Top 10 Best YA Easter Book Titles (that don’t really exist)

funfridays

For Fun Friday this week, members of The Society of YA Storytellers are posting about all things Easter. After I thought about it for half a second, I realized that this was a really weird topic for The Society. It’s not like YA novelists scramble to include chapters about bonnets, baskets, and Easter egg hunts.

And that got me thinkin’. Hmmm, what if they did? Therefore, I present to you my Top 10 Best YA Easter Book Titles (that don’t really exist).

10. Breaking Eggs: The Bunny Saga

9. The Marshmallow Peep Diaries

8. Pretty Little Chicks

7. City of Jellybeans

6. The Spring Games: Catching Tulips

5. Dorothy Must Dye (Eggs)

4. The Maze Hopper

3. The Perks of Having a Cotton Tail

2. The Bonnet Thief

1. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Chocolate Bunnies

By the way, the Morganville Web Series wraps filming of season one today, so in honor of this auspicious occasion, I have a special message for my fellow #Myrninators.. Happy Easter – Don’t let the bunnies bite!

Epic Fail…don’t call your little sis a dork

funfridays

So embarrassing! This week’s Fun Friday post is about the Epic Fail. Surely, most of my YA Storyteller gal pals will be writing about faux pas from their wide cast of book characters. I thought about that. There’d be a few things that I could share about Colby being awkward or Jumper being, well Jumper.

However, as I start to think on the subject, I realize that my own life’s experiences carry far more failures than any of my characters. No one has ever accused me of being Miss Perfect…or Miss Poised…or well, you get the point.

One particular incident comes to mind as it is one of my sister’s favorites. I know this because she trots it out anytime we attend a banquet or family dinner together. Oh yeah, it’s great entertainment for the whole table (*rolling my eyes).

Anyway, it happened about thirteen or so years go. I had joined a high-powered professional club that met 2 and a half hours away in the big city. High level group…all black business suits.

jumperOn the infamous day, I was to be one of several young adults that were being honored for achievements during the group’s monthly luncheon. My hubby couldn’t go, and I didn’t want to go alone, so I conned my little sister into attending with me. Continue reading “Epic Fail…don’t call your little sis a dork”

Fun Friday: Divergent! I am ?

Every Fun Friday, the novelists of The Society of YA Storytellers blog on a common topic for maximum fun! Go to Fun Fridays for direct links to the other storytellers’ posts.

factionDivergent! This week’s topic has me smiling. So excited for the movie, maybe because I could never bring myself to read book 3 after reading the reviews. In my mind, I still have the world of Tris and Four intact; Allegiant sitting on my kindle with not a page read.

Anywho, for Fun Friday, we’re taking a look at ourselves and how we’d score on the nefarious aptitude test from books. But can we honestly look at ourselves. Nice thought, but I doubt it. So, I went to the Divergent experts at divergentfans.com and took their really cool Faction Quiz.

I ended up Erudite. Which isn’t great if you’ve read the books, but it does mean that I’m a smarty pants, duh!

I had a feeling it would turn out this way. I do well on tests and tend to dwell on the details a little too much. However, even though this test has marked me as such, my astounding Erudite intellect (*insert snicker here) leads me to the fact that we live in a world where we can be all these things if we want. How awesome would it be to be brave, selfless, smart, peaceful, and honest all at once. Maybe it’s time we try.

Villain Takeover!

funfridays

Bryna Butler is well…let’s just say she’s “tied up” at the moment. This Fun Friday the villains are in control as they take over the blogs of the novelists of The Society of YA Storytellers. So don’t panic. Grab up your rock salt, garlic, wooden stakes, iron, silver bullets, and keep reading!

TWDThe first day of school was very strange for me. I’d never gone to school. I’d never needed to. My sister and I learned everything we needed from our parents. Mostly our mother. Witchcraft was something they didn’t teach in school. Continue reading “Villain Takeover!”
