Come one! Come all!! This week’s featured attraction at the YA Indie Carnival…Blast from the Past: Emo-Awesomeness from High School.
This may come as a shock to you, but I was something of a good girl in school. I spent much of junior high in a bubble skirt and a ponytail on one side of my head. I thought I was Cyndi Lauper.
By the time I reached freshman year, I graduated to Paula Abdul. Oh yes, I had the moves. On second thought, maybe “had” is a little too strong. I knew the moves. I memorized every bit of choreography from the “Straight Up” video, which I watched hundreds of times on VHS tape and mimicked dressed in my shoulder-padded, black and white jacket with rolled-up sleeves.
The very opposite of emo, I was a victim of pop diva-liciousness.
So to compensate, here is some true emo-awesomeness from the other YA Indie Carnival authors…
I could only DREAM to be someone like you! But I have the feeling you were never a mean girl, so we can still be friends LOL
